This policy describes the data practices of the static website operated by Decarb Energy Partners LLC ("Decarb Energy").

Policy Overview

Decarb Energy prioritizes user choice and limited analytics.

  • Opt-In Analytics: Google Analytics stays off unless the user selects Accept. If the user declines or leaves the choice unset, this site does not load Google Analytics or send analytics events. Decarb Energy uses consented analytics to understand aggregate website activity.
  • Limited Personal Information: Decarb Energy does not intentionally send names, contact details, or other direct identifiers to Google Analytics. Newsletter subscriptions and emails are optional.
  • No Sale of Personal Information: Decarb Energy does not sell personal information collected through this website or use it for targeted advertising.
  • Control Without Losing Access: The user can withdraw analytics consent through Analytics Choices on this page. Navigation, search, and the optional game remain available without analytics.

Decarb Energy does not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, cross-site profiling, or automated decisions. Google Signals, advertising personalization, user-provided data collection, and User-ID are intentionally disabled.

These choices control website analytics, not all provider activity. Hosting and font providers may process technical requests, and consented Google Analytics may use browser identifiers, as described below.

Google Analytics and User Consent

Decarb Energy uses Google Analytics 4 ("Google Analytics") only after the user affirmatively selects Accept. Before consent, and after the user declines, this site does not request the Google Analytics tag or send analytics events. If the user accepts, Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies or similar identifiers and process information about the user's browser or device, broad location, referrer, page and browser-history views, 90-percent page scrolls, outbound-link clicks, public-document downloads, supported embedded-video engagement, start or submit interactions with compatible forms in the top-level page, and the first search term entered when Decarb Energy's search results page opens.

Google Analytics form-interaction measurement does not read form-field contents and cannot read the separate cross-origin Brevo newsletter form. A form-submission event does not by itself confirm a completed subscription. Decarb Energy uses the collected information to evaluate aggregate website use, content engagement, calls to action, public-document downloads, error-page recovery, and broad interaction with the optional 404 brick breaker game. Decarb Energy does not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, cross-site profiling, or automated decisions. Google Signals, advertising personalization, user-provided data collection, and User-ID are disabled.

For the consent control, the site stores the user's analytics choice, its purpose and schema version, and an expiration value in first-party browser storage for up to 180 days. That preference is not a user identifier. The 180-day consent-preference period is separate from Google Analytics cookie lifetimes and provider retention periods. After saving an analytics choice, open this Privacy Policy page and select to reopen the notice and change the user's selection. This saved-choice control is shown only on the Privacy Policy page. To withdraw consent, select Decline in the reopened notice. Withdrawal stops future Decarb Energy analytics events and attempts to remove Analytics cookies that this site can clear; it does not automatically delete data previously collected by Google Analytics.

Analytics Data Minimization

Decarb Energy's custom analytics events use predefined categories rather than free-text values. Google's automatic analytics events, including the search-term exception below, are separate. Manual page views, referrers, and custom search outcome events omit query strings, fragments, typed terms, link text, full outbound URLs, free-form campaign values, exact game scores, and form-field contents; the 404 page uses a fixed location instead of the requested missing path. One exception is site search: after the user accepts Analytics, Google Analytics may receive the first search term when the search results page opens. Decarb Energy configures URL-query redaction for q and best-effort email-pattern redaction, but these controls do not guarantee removal of names, organizations, confidential phrases, or every form of personal information from a search term. Decarb Energy does not intentionally send names, email addresses, telephone numbers, postal addresses, confidential partner information, or other direct identifiers to Google Analytics, and the user should not enter personal or confidential information in site search.

Provider and User-Initiated Interactions

  • Hosting: GitHub Pages delivers this site and receives technical request information, such as the requested page address, Internet Protocol address, and browser information. GitHub states that it logs visitor Internet Protocol addresses for security purposes. See GitHub Pages data collection and the GitHub Privacy Statement.
  • Fonts: The user's browser may request the Inter font from Google Fonts. Google may receive standard technical request information under its own privacy practices. Font requests are separate from Google Analytics and can occur before an analytics choice is made. See Google Fonts privacy information.
  • Analytics: After explicit affirmative user consent, the browser requests the Google tag and sends the minimized analytics information described above to Google. Google states that Analytics uses Internet Protocol addresses at collection to derive broad location and discards those addresses before logging. This is not a claim that no Internet Protocol processing occurs. See Google's business-data privacy information and Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Site Search: Pagefind is served with Decarb Energy's static website and searches a prebuilt index in the user's browser; Decarb Energy does not operate a Pagefind search-query server. Opening a search-results page sends its address, including the search term, to GitHub Pages. The term may also appear in browser history and hosting request records, even if Analytics is declined. If the user accepted Analytics, Google Analytics may receive the first search term as described above. If Pagefind is unavailable, the results page displays a Click here alternative-engine link, named Search on Google (opens in a new tab) for assistive technology. It is not shown for a working search with no matches, which displays No results found. Google Search receives the exact site:www.decarbenergypartners.com [SEARCH TERM] query only if the user selects that link; it opens in a new tab, and Google handles that request under its own practices. The site does not redirect to Google automatically.
  • Newsletter: Decarb Energy uses Brevo to manage newsletter subscriptions and send updates. The form requests an email address, first name, and last name. Loading the embedded form sends technical request information to Brevo and its delivery providers, even before submission; Analytics Choices does not control those requests.   • Email: A mailto: link opens the user's chosen email application. If the user sends a message, Decarb Energy receives the contact information and content the user provides by email. Email systems also process routing, delivery, and security information. Microsoft provides Decarb Energy's email infrastructure.
  • External Links: Other websites process information under their own policies after the user chooses to follow a link.

Retention, Deletion, Providers, and Transfers

Decarb Energy configures the Google Analytics property with a 14-month event-data and user-data retention setting and with reset-on-new-activity disabled. Google Analytics standard aggregated reports and provider records may follow separate service behavior. The browser consent preference expires after no more than 180 days. Records created through GitHub, Google, Brevo, Microsoft, or an external website are also handled under the relevant provider's retention, deletion, subprocessor, and international-transfer practices.

Depending on the privacy law applicable to the user and the processing, the user may request access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy of personal information. Where applicable law provides an appeal right, the user may also appeal a decision on a privacy request. Submit a request or appeal using the contact details below. For clarity, Decarb Energy uses analytics to understand aggregate website activity, not to identify named people. Browser identifiers and search terms may still contain or be linked to personal information. A consent withdrawal is prospective and is separate from a request concerning previously collected data.

User Choices and Tracking Signals

Analytics remains off unless the user selects Accept in the analytics notice. Accept and Decline are equally available. After saving a choice, return to this Privacy Policy page and select Analytics Choices to reopen the notice; select Decline to withdraw consent or Accept to opt in. Declining or leaving Analytics unset prevents the Google tag and its site-search term event from being sent; it does not disable browser-side Pagefind or the explicit Google Search fallback. The user may also block browser storage or the Google tag through browser controls, although doing so may prevent the site from retaining the user's choice. Decarb Energy does not sell personal information collected through this website or use it for targeted advertising, and no advertising-consent flow is enabled. The website does not automatically change its Analytics Choices setting in response to browser Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. Separate providers may respond to browser privacy signals under their own practices.

The user may avoid the Brevo newsletter workflow and contact Decarb Energy by email instead. Newsletter messages provide confirmation and an unsubscribe route. Declining analytics does not limit website navigation, browser-side site search, the explicit Google Search fallback, the newsletter form, email links, or the optional 404 game.

Adult Audience

This website is intended for a general adult audience in the United States. The website is globally reachable, and it is not directed to children or anyone under the age of 18. Refrain from using the newsletter form and sending personal information if you are under the age of 18.

Changes and Contact

Decarb Energy periodically reviews this Privacy Policy and revises this notice and its effective date to reflect changes to this website's data practices, if any.
